Deaths on planes give passengers an unwanted up-close view of human ...

The crew often throws a blanket over the corpse or puts it in a body bag, an item routinely kept on some planes. The dead passenger is sometimes placed on the floor in a galley area, or kept buckled in his or her seat, since a corpse cannot be allowed to block certain emergency exits. Pilots may consider making an emergency landing, but often they keep going.

They unpaved Paradise and took out a parking lot

Apologies to Joni Mitchell.

This was the scene on Saturday, just a couple of weeks since the train station lot at Lafayette Avenue and Morris Street was closed. Heavy equipment was out in full force to begin an 18-month transformation of the three-acre space into the $75 million Highlands at Morristown Station, billed as one of New Jersey's premier residential/commercial "transit villages."

Don't worry about parking. There will be plenty once the bulldozers are done. A 722-space garage is expected to rise from the dirt, providing spaces for tenants while expanding commuter parking. (More photos below.)

Record five openly gay candidates look to toss hats into Council races

Yet he said that finally realizing the dream will come down to more than sexual orientation.

"Being gay is not a reason to get elected, because being gay does not automatically make you a progressive," Sedarbaum said. "My money would be on the progressive candidate, not on the gayest candidate."

The Blotter

The body of the Dripping Springs man who went missing after a kayaking accident Feb. 17 has been found about 30 miles south of the Port Aransas beach near where his kayak capsized, according to an official with the Kleberg County Police Department.

Stephen Stafford, 20, was kayak fishing with a co-worker before dawn when both men decided to return to the shore, officials said. After waves capsized their kayaks, Stafford's co-worker made it to the shore, but Stafford didn't. U.S. Coast Guard officials searched for Stafford for two days, but failed to find him.

Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Coast Guard officials in a helicopter found Stafford's body along a desolate stretch of beach at the Padre Island National Seashore. The beach is about 30 miles south of where he was reported missing, said Kleberg County police Sgt.
