The games industry has long argued that the censorship regime is unnecessarily draconian and prevents adults from making their own decisions as to the type of content they consume. It has called for the classification system to be harmonised across all types of media. .
Mellow Mushroom tries again for patio
Michael Shemtov, co-owner of Mellow Mushroom, hopes the city will decide Tuesday to allow a rooftop patio to be added to the pizzeria at 309 King St. A similar request was denied five years ago by the Board of Zoning Appeals, which must grant Mellow Mushroom use of the additional patron space without the parking spaces that are required by law. Immediately to the right of the proposed patio are apartments. .
Goodbye barbie, hello pizza oven
FIRE, earth and water. The modern Australian male has long used the humble barbecue as a conduit for these basic elements. Now men across Melbourne's suburbs are tossing their tongs in favour of more sophisticated implements - with delicious results. For 58-year-old mechanic Ivan Mazeyko, the journey started some years ago. He wanted to build a wood-fired oven in his backyard. He talked about it with friends and family, but no one thought it would ever happen. In preparation, he did a course on building a wood-fired oven, read books and spoke to lots of other men. Insurers 'put pressure on claimants to settle for less'
The conduct of insurers who deal directly with accident victims will be investigated following accusations that they put pressure on victims to waive their right to compensation or to settle claims for less than they should. Trade unions and claimant lawyers have handed a dossier of evidence against such insurers to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for investigation. The trade union, Unite, has highlighted insurers who tried to settle the claims of injured people before they could take independent legal advice - known in the industry as 'third-party capture' - including one accident claim where insurance company Zurich offered £4,000 in 'full and final settlement', only for the case to be settled last November for £35,000. The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers' (Apil) evidence includes a claim on behalf of bereaved parents who lost their three children in a road traffic accident.
