Mom to Sue School District Claiming Son Was Bullied to Death

A few days before Brandon's death, the two friends argued over a girl. They quickly patched up the dispute, but guilt from that encounter and its proximity to Brandon's suicide hangs over Trystyn, his mother said.

"He said he wanted to be next to Brandon," said Amy Wagner, who has since moved Trystyn and his younger sister to a private school as a result of what she says was bullying toward her son.

"It's just been a nightmare," she said.

During a Lee's Summit police investigation of Brandon's death, Trystyn told officers that Brandon drew a picture of himself hanging from a rope. The drawing was found by another student and turned in to a teacher, according to a police report.

Another classmate later shared a note from Brandon that further hinted at his risks of suicide.

Victoria's Secret too sexy?

Dayton doesn't have the same kinds of gang problems that plague cities like Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles or even Columbus. In fact, some community activists blame most local gang-related crime on kids imitating gang life.

"A lot of this (gang) stuff is overblown," said the Rev. Tommie Stewart, who heads Northwest Weed and Seed. "Most of these kids are just wannabe gang members."

Still, the Dayton-based gangs identified by state prison investigators represent a Who's Who of street gangs that make headlines in big cities across the country: Aryan Brotherhood, Crips, Bloods, Folks and People Nation. They also identified 18 independent gangs from Dayton and Montgomery County.

Since most inmates eventually come home, prison gang ties can become neighborhood gang ties.

Pat LaMarche: Xenophobe: Warrior Princess

I know this pretty little lady. She's got a hot little husband and an adorable little boy. They are a sweet Maine family — picture perfect — including the little bun she's got growing in her oven. I call them little because they're diminutive. She barely clears five feet and he's maybe six inches taller. I don't know, maybe I'm "sizeist" but their smaller-than-average stature just adds to their allure.

It adds to the surprise factor, too, when you find that they're xenophobic.

Well, I'm not sure about the husband and the 2-year-old, but she definitely is.

The other day she struck up a conversation with me about wanting to send the immigrants home. I asked her what tribe she was from, like the Penobscot or maybe one from away like the Cherokee. Mind you, I don't smile when I ask this — my standard rebuttal question — but for some reason every time I ask it, the person I'm asking laughs like I'm kidding.
